WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE SOMEONE CONSIDERING FOSTERING?
I would say, to not think about the “what if’s” and just do it. What your foster needs most ( love, safety, patience and kindness) will come naturally for you and you will be rewarded a 100 times over.” -Molly
FOSTERING OPTIONS
We now have two Foster options: Foster Families AND Foster Flings!
Fostering saves lives. The more open homes, the more dogs that we can intake at the center for dogs who need out NOW from high kill shelters or homeless situations. We can then move them to a home with a foster or adopter. The problem is, Fosters are scarce, to say the least.
We cannot always wait until we have a foster lined up, there is no line anymore and dogs are dying because they have nowhere to go and options are limited.
What do we do? We pivot. We take a good look at what’s happening and why and we create something new that might be a different, more comfortable short-term commitment for people in our community to help our dogs in need. We are excited to begin the Cane Rosso Foster Fling program in addition to our regular dog foster program.
In today’s world, times are tough, people are incredibly busy and one of our biggest resources needed is time Time for dogs to be dogs, time for them to let us know their needs and who they are, time for them to have a break from the center and learn what a home is like. This is why we created the Cane Rosso Foster Fling.
FOSTER FAMILY
Foster Families care for their foster dog until a Forever Family is found.
Cane Rosso Rescue legally owns the dog while providing medical expenses and supplies when necessary. The Foster Family donates their home environment, while tending to the rescue dog’s daily needs and medical needs in coordination with Cane Rosso Rescue. They work to socialize him/her, include the rescue pup as their own in daily activities, and creates quality social media material to help find his/her Forever Family.
Responsibilities of a Foster Family include LOVE, fun, patience, positive reinforcement, socialization and guidance for a rescue dog while they learn to be a dog in a home environment.
FOSTER FLING
New foster program alert! Cane Rosso Foster Fling!
A Cane Rosso Rescue Foster Fling is only a two week commitment to care for one of our rescue dogs in a home. It is short and sweet and helps us and the dogs in our care tremendously. The goal of the fling has three parts:
Part 1: to increase visibility of the rescue center dog for adoption, gather quality pictures and videos of the rescue dog
Part 2: Enrich the CRR dog’s life in a home environment and provide a learning opportunity for the rescue and potential adopters to know more about the dog in a home. Dogs naturally act differently in a home environment versus a shelter and we want to know these details! Seeing the dog in a new environment, we can then use what we learn to find them their best people and families and make adoption matches that last
Part 3: make space so we can intake more dogs to our center, get them vetted and moved to a foster, foster fling or adopter in a more timely fashion
CRR center dogs who have been in our care for over 14 days are candidates for our foster fling program
Cane Rosso Reacue legally owns the dog while providing medical expenses and supplies as needed during the foster fling.
